For a buyer arriving in Bangkok with no design vocabulary, walking into Chanintr is a useful experience — you leave with a working sense of what serious furniture looks like.
The trouble starts when you have already had that experience. When you know what you want, the Chanintr model — selecting the closest available option from imported European brands — becomes a compromise. You are paying:
- The European brand's design royalty
- The shipping from Italy or Germany to Thailand (international freight, customs, duty)
- Chanintr's distributor margin
- The Sukhumvit retail premium (some of Bangkok's most expensive commercial real estate)
